Has anyone else noticed that there are a ton of Web 2.0/Infrastructure 2.0 announcements going on that don't leverage or use any Marketing 2.0 means of communication? Outside of some blogging, it would be more interesting to see how Atmos or Decho or DDN or anyone starts to align their marketing efforts with their product worlds. Show me something interesting!
Since i'm talking blogs and interesting, I like Jonny Oltsiks latest video blog on the impact of the global economic meltdown on IT. High Tech, baby.
Mark Bowker is getting linked constantly on anything virtualization related, and had some nice kudo's from this blogger who attended a preso Mark did at the VMware user group meeting in the woods of NH recently.
I love this smash 'em up blog roust Chuck Hollis and Tony Asaro are in, although it has become such a pissing match that I don't remember the original point - which means no one who matters, i.e. buyers of IT stuff, care any longer, but it's good fun reading for mostly irrelevant industry types like me. I personally will pay each man $10,000 to allow me to create a video broadcast of them beating the hell out of each other live - at a forum to be named later. I own all the pay per view and marketing rights, of course. I would try to get the Iron Sheik and Jon Toigo to officiate. Part 1 is here, Part II (more interesting and personal) is here. As my friend Mike Beaudet say's "they may not have crossed the line, but they sure have made it wider".
Knowing Asaro is a bit nuts, grew up in Brooklyn, and spent his youth in a gang, I'd put my money on him. No offense to Chuck of course, who is much taller and has a distinct reach advantage, but he seems too non-nuts to have any real chance. Always bet on the crazier combatant. Then again, knowing Asaro's pension for the dramatic and his theatrical and musical lineage, it could have been a West Side Story kind of a gang. (Come on, that's funny.)
Otherwise, what do you say fella's, how about a Christmas Snow Brawl fight? Who Has The Biggest Disk? Battle of the Bin Files? SMI-S Down? Rank'n'File vs. the BlockHead? Binary Blogger Battle? Sym vs. Tagma: Cage Match to the Death? Short Stroke vs. Long Hash? MGM Vegas? Foxwoods? Done right I bet we could sell 45-50 tee-shirts........

Sign me up. How about this:
Faster than cache
Got two mean hard drives
Too bad you ain't configured
With redundant RAID 5
A million IOPS
In your face
Going to delete
All your disk space
Ok - its not easy waxing poetic like Ali with a storage spin.
