Novell's solid acquisition for managing the virtual data center

When Novell bought PlateSpin a few weeks ago, ESG was especially bullish.  With PlateSpin, Novell can add to its existing strong management tools and approach a burgeoning market.  See my C/Net blog for more. 

Missed opportunities in Log Management.

Security and log management continue to be hot areas as evidenced by the several acquisitions (IBM/Micromuse, Novell/eSecurity, RSA/Network Intelligence) and the ArcSight IPO.  Ironically, some security leaders have remained on the sidelines as competitors rake in dough.  I don't get it.

Thoughts on the ArcSight IPO

With the economy slumping, it really doesn't seem like a good time to IPO.  Don't mention this to ArcSight, the security management leader went public last month and is doing quite well, thank you very much.  See my recent C/Net blog for more. 

Citrix Virtualization Architecture

Citrix really has a great vision for data center virtualization.  In a nutshell, Citrix believes that IT will virtualize the data center and applications and will need to tools to turn static data centers into dynamic delivery centers.

Spam, spam and more spam!
